Wall Platters and Framed Works

I create these platters on a larger scale than traditional serving platters and they are wired or notched; ready to hang on the wall. I consider them to be more of a glaze painting than a functional piece. As with most of my work, the inspiration is nature. I develop and use many different glazes and finishing techniques, often accentuating what would be considered a glaze flaw if used on functional pottery, such as several crackling or extremely dry surfaces. I consider these to be special effects glazes. I will often create a specific piece that will best show off the characteristics of a particular special effects glaze I have discovered or developed.
